These 3 are so funny!

They are looking for targets that can be jumped to or approached.

Oh, if that goes well, wiggle on the cam at around 15:29
Hope the cam will not eaten sometimes.

Black kites!

Hello! Today the youngest chick is 2 months old. The first half of the day was very eventful. Recorded a video. But the evening is full of events. This family makes us happy!

Hello :hi:

What's in the nest? I suspect a black rag on one thing. The other looks organic to me. What is it?
Has the nest been visited by any of the inhabitants? It's not in the last of your photos. So the nest must have been visited again? :puzzled:

Have a nice Sunday, everyone.

Hello ! Polly!
Golda brought the black blanket in May. Then he was buried under sticks and rubbish. When the chicks almost took off, they dug up a blanket. Then two times Gray carried him away, clinging to the claws, and both times Greichik returned the blanket to the nest. Gray is the hide. Once they brought the paw of a wolf or a dog, or maybe the remains of a hedgehog.
I will soon make a video about a black blanket and different skulls in a nest. :)

@ olgapyat, a cute video. :innocent:
I've already read your post directly. Sorry for the late reply.

The rag seems important. Well, I read about kites today in the wake of what happened in the osprey nests. Garbage is omnipresent, at least in the nests of the red kite. Then probably also with the black kites. Why ever they do that.

I found it very interesting that there are mixed breeds. Red kite and black kite. However, the female is always a red kite.

Thank you, Polly! Very interesting articles. Our kites Godda and Gray are also from different subspecies.

Melnās klijas (Milvus migrans) Kurzemē - LDF tiešraide ! Black Kite camera is back :loveshower:

GT
The nest is located in the black kite nesting area, which has been known since 2011. Previously, the birds nested in another nest, but this one, built on old birch, was found in 2017. Both in the year of its discovery and in the following two years, the black kite successfully nested in this nest.

As is typical of black kite, the nest is richly decorated with man-made "decorations" - films, rags and pieces of rope, and pieces of plastic film have also fallen to the ground under the nest.

The live system at the nest was built at the end of March, the first bird appeared in the nest on the afternoon of April 6.

The camera system was built by Jānis Ķuze and Jānis Rudzītis, with the participation of Pēteris Daknis, Aleksejs Šarīpins and Renāte Kviese. Thanks to Aigars Kalvans for information about the history of the nest population.
