The nest, in which the local White-tailed Eagle pair raised young in three consecutive years, has been blown out of the tree during a storm last week.

Update, 2 February. The young raptor had been spotted on the ground on Sunday in south-east Sweden (Blekinge archipelago). After a failed attempt to release the bird into the wild on Tuesday, it was taken to a Wildlife Rescue Centre, where it was found dead on 1 February. The five-year-old White-tailed Eagle, ringed near Plön in northern Germany, has survived the accident last December. A second injured eagle (15), was found around the same time and will be released soon.

15.Winter Eagle Count, Denmark: 375 White-tailed Eagles. February 2018

Data for each region can be found at the Dansk Ornitologisk Forening (DOF) website. According to the article, Kim Skelmose, leader of the country´s Eagle Project, expects about 80 breeding pairs in Denmark this season. Skelmose said that at least twelve WtE were killed by the bird flu strain H5N8 during 2016/2017.
