Re: Following Karls' Families
Hi Jo,
many thanks for the interesting information! How exciting! Thank heaven that Urmas and Omar could finish their work before Karl II rushed in. They (we all!) have been lucky! But great work!
Thank you also for the info about the other cams! But first of all I look forward to see Karl II.

Hello everyone,
It's such a relief to see him back at his nest, safe and sound.
It took less than three minutes for Karl II to start first nestauration works.
Many thanks for the wonderful video, Baiba! I am very grateful to Kotkaklubi for making this video.
Welcome home, dear Karl II.Baiba_K wrote: ↑April 9th, 2022, 8:53 am Good morning!

We are waiting for the camera link. If we open the 2022 topic before we have that there will be nothing of substance to post. Even the introductory posts have to wait! This year's camera is different so last year's information is not valid.

By popular request the 2022 topic for the Karula nest is unlocked. Keep checking the Kotkaklubi Youtube channel as the camera link will appear there.
There is not much to post about until we can see the nest.

Yes, many, many thanks to Anne for her lonely half-year work so that we can all rejoice together now ... Thanks also to EVERYONE, thanks to whom our lives are a little more colorful. Karl, we are lucky to see you again. Have a lot of handy little Karls this year...

.
Good evening everyone.
Liz, Bigfan, Heloise, winnipeg hawk, and all others, thank you for your appreciation for all the work that has been (and still is being) done on the migration topics. Not only by me!
I know it's only a limited consolation for still missing the camera link, but I can report that our Karl II has been around all day.
I can see a few local flights (on Ornitela). No further than about 8 km away from the nest. Presumably he has been checking out the area. And of course he has to eat too.
The battery level is only 42%. So for now, not many location points are displayed. The transmitter could benefit from a little more warmth and sunshine. And so do we.
Hopefully we will have a view of the nest tomorrow. And hopefully little Kaia will be around too.
So far there hasn’t been a recent birdmap update for the other adult Black Storks. Last data: April 7.
I will also check regularly if there is any news about Udu and Pikne. Fingers crossed!
A little edit for our new members:
To ensure the safety and tranquillity of our birds, it is important to keep the exact location of the nest secret, and therefore no tracker maps are published during the breeding season.

Just a quick note to say that Karl II is still in the immediate vicinity of the nest. I see that he visits the nest often and that he did not move further than about 8 kilometer from the nest.
Very likely he is diligently refurbishing the house with lots of branches and piles of moss...
It looks like he won't be sleeping on the nest tonight (unless he returns later).
At 19:53 (Estonian time) he was at the edge of a brooklet about 1.5 km from the nest.
The battery level is only 39% this evening.

Thank you for these updates Anne. It helps to know that all is well at the nest, even thought we can't see it yet.
I wish I had some news to tell you all, but I haven't .
So,
