I saw today 2 videos of a rescued juvenile sea eagle. The injury to the wing is similar to the injury Aru has.

hole in the wing. He was hanging from a branch of one dry pine tree.

It is of topic. But I think it's good to see how such a wound can develop. A branch can drill through the wing.

Thanks Liz
That looks cruel  (my god, a hole in the wing). Hopefully the nerves or tendons are injured.

the first bird is the Eurasian nuthatch or wood nuthatch (Sitta europaea)
the second bird is the European crested tit (Lophophanes cristatus)

:shake: it turns out that the little bird I could barely see in the nest  was the European crested tit (Lophophanes cristatus).. she's really crested, hairy, not combed :rotf: ... she's so cute and small and fast. The day was not in vain... :headroll: I liked these birds. Thank You, Solo.

Late in the season but there is a correction to be made about ring numbers.

Urmas says
is written that 7160 has letter O in the end, but in general letter O is not used on rings, because difficult to distinguish between 0 and O, especially in bad optical situation what is quite common in bird ring readings in the wild.
Our Oru will remain Oru but it is right to make the correction.

The problem of 0 an O is clear.
But is this problem regarding the rings not solved by the knowledge, that there are 3 numerals and the last is a letter ?
(And the ring won't be changed now anyway)

Wish you a nice weekend

Hello Jo UK :)

May be it's a misunderstanding, i don't know ;)
Jo UK wrote:Pleae clarify - what is the problem which remains unsolved about O and 0?
In my opinion there is no problem, that's all.

But obviously cause of this correction there was seen a problem:

At first, i think, the ring won't be removed again - so where is a correction has been done ?
And second, i don't understand the sense of such a correction.
If you know, that the number of a ring consists 3 numerals and the last is a letter, you don't have any problem with the question of 0 or O.
Otherwise you could say: 160 or 106 or 016 is not possible because of the possibility, that it might be seen as an O, too.
So, if you know the system, that's no problem, even if somebody tells you 7060, you will know which one is a numeral and which one is a letter.

Have a nice weekend
