Naturally, the chick was being guarded by la hembra:


The chick opened his/her wings a bit whie facing the camera:

At 10:30 Mom went on an errand:


The chick sat up in surprise at being left all alone:


Mom returned at 10:32 with some fresh moss:

Here she is with those huge pink feet:


At 14:18 Dad came back from work:


Mom left almost immediately:

The male was soon called upon to actively protect the chick:


Another intruder in the neighbourhood:


A peaceful (though food-less) afternoon:

Dad left the chick on his/her own at 20:15:


He came back two minutes later (the light obviously makes it impossible to say if he'd brought anything):


The day's stream was over a little early, at 21:19, with the chick in Dad's care:

6 June

The stream started to run at 06:47:


The chick was being attended to by Dad:


The chick asked Dad a question or two:

To the left and to the right:


To the right:


Dad's tail went up, suggesting that this wasn't just stretching:

At 12:03 Dad took off:


Look how the chick has turned grey over time:


Dad came back at 12:11:

A little later la hembra joined the party:


She kind of crashed into Dad and the two got themselves into a tangle:


Having successfully disentangled himself, Dad left at 12:35:

He then came back at 13:02:


The chick asked him for food:


The pink-footed Mom hopped onto her favourite branch:

Something's in the air?


Dad left at 13:15:


He came back with dry pine needles a minute later:

[Marbzy]

Is that water for the chick?


Dad was gone again at 13:30:


Mom came down from the branch:

[Marbzy]

She made an attempt to feed the chick:


It looks at though she regurgitated some food onto the nest floor:


And then she helped the chick take a few bites:

The afternoon turned hot:


Mom made sure the chick was clean enough:


She served another meal in the early evening:

[Marbzy]

This should be enough to send the chick to bed early:


The early supper did the trick:


The day's stream ended at 21:43:

The stream started at 07:11:


Mom left the chick on his/her own at 08:50:


But she returned into the nest from a slightly different direction just four minutes later:

He went up on a branch again at 09:55:


The chick didn't seem to mind (or even notice):


Mom jumped into the nest after eight minutes:

The chick sat up, supporting him-/herself with the little wings:


Are you OK, little thing?


Mom got ready to defend the chick, who didn't seem particularly aware of any threat:

Mom waited patiently:


The chick got up in all his/her gray(t)ness:


Mom left the nest at 13:08:

Dad filled the empty space just 25 seconds later:


It is not unlikely that he fed the chick after a few minutes:


The chick found the way to Dad's beak in no time:
