AR: “Algis, tell us please, what are these marks here about?”
AM: “Those lines mark some of the highest water levels here in Karuskose.”
AR: “Ahahh!”
AM: “Blue mark is from 2010, highest water of last 50 years.”
AR: ”It is from one year ago, when we set up a web-cam and everybody could follow the rise and fall of Fifth Season on their screens. Is it the same high as blue line on sauna?"
AM: “Yes , exactly the same waterlevel is marked with blue color on smoke-sauna!”
AR: “And it reached also house … up to window last year?”
AM: “Yes, almost as high as window, ca 50 centimetres on the floor.”
AR: “And what about the white and red mark?”
AM: “Second highest water of last 10 years was in 2002, and this is marked with white. All other years in this century has been less then 2002.”
AR: “Mhmhh. But there seems to be still room for improvement?”
AM: “The highest flood of century has been in 1931, the red marks that level. Actually we do not have any exact natural marks about it here in Karuskose, but we calculated it based on records of Riisa hydrological station. Station is situated 6 kilometres downstream, established in 1924.
AR: “How did you calculate it?”
AM: “We know the difference of water levels of 2002 and 2010 both in Riisa and here in Karuskose. And we know the difference between 2010 and 1931 in Riisa, so it is an easy arithmetics to get 1931 here in Karuskose.”
