Janne+Ais, this may happen in future. Urmas once wrote, while we were waiting for the LSE chick to be ringed, that it may happen that the member of Kotkaklubi doing the ringing prefers to do it without camera. Unexpected things may always happen, we remember an osprey chick flying away when the team arrived. Speaking for me, I'd rather help them do their work and with this help future generations of birds and animals to have a better life!

They will ring anyway and I also think, this is so important to protect these wonderful animals.
And it is so interesting to have the opportunity to watch this ringing, I always admire the calm and concentration of the ringers. It's interesting to see, how they hold the birds e.g.
I would miss this so! One can learn a lot!

For me it was the first time I saw live-ringing of a WtE - and I have to say that I am very relieved to see that Durberts was not as stressed as I thought he would be. Janis did a very good job!! He was so concentrated - everything happened quite quick, without bothering Duberts more than necessary.
For me it was good that the cam was running....

i see that the ringing discussion is still going on here... i'm happy for the ringers sake that they have received a lot of positive comments on their their work. thank you for that! to my disappointment there have also been some negative-like comments as well.

from now on i wish that comments about this subject will be posted in the Conversations-topic, for example in the Ranting-topic:

i think i found these birds. they were big, white/blond birds, flying one behind the other. i didn't see long necks so i don't think they were swans. they may have been Durbe and Robert, but it is impossible to say for sure that they were them.

I agree! I really enjoyed watching the ringing and I thought Janis did a great job! I was hoping for a video so I could watch it again.

I'm sure the parents will come soon, especially since there was a sighting by Suski. :)

about this bird i'm not sure what it was. to me it seemed to take off from the ground in a place which can be seen between the two upright branches on the right side of the nest. Durberts looked at it flying but he didn't seem to be as interested in it as he was in the previous bird.

i'm so busy looking for birds in my recordings that i fail to see them live.

and the cam off again! is it the same for others or is it only my connection?
aha, i see that you BlackSwan that you have the same problem then it has to be the camera and not our connections. the camera has sometimes these bad days. yesterday was one of them. there are dozens of restarted Pontu videos in the archive.

Ame: the bird I saw was flying in front of the blue sky - it looks like an eagle to me (the way of flying)...unfortunately I missed to look at the clock ...must have been between 10:10 and 10:12...(I am not able to see the clock in your posted video...it´s too small :-))

the 09:39 flight is parents for sure.

He looked to the left long before we saw the bird.

The first after 8 was far away and after an hour it was nearer to the nest.

It's soon! Perhaps if he'll KEKEKE a little, they'll come sooner

the title of all my videos contain the start time of it, followed by a short description of the event. i think that the title should be big enough to see.

the camera goes in short pieces today.
well, now it's back.
edit: and off again.
Sabrina, now i think i found the bird you saw. i think that was an eagle!

i made a longer video which now will hopefully contain all that could be seen. after about 30 s from the beginning the big birds takes off the the ground or from some bush or small tree near the ground. then after a while the eagle flies a few rounds high in the sky and finally over the nest. Durberts was watching.
