But then I noticed a water buffalo. At first I thought he was swimming and taking a bath. After an hour he still hadn't managed to reach land. His head was more under water than above it. After 2 hours I thought it didn't matter if I was making a fool of myself, I'd get help. Big fire brigade operation! When they arrived, the water buffalo managed to reach land. He lay on his side for a while, completely exhausted. The Fire brigade stayed until the buffalo got up on his legs. A rescue in this area would have been a major challenge. I was grateful that everything ended well.
the fire department people thanked me. I didn't take any more pictures because suddenly there were an incredible number of people in this place. There was no one to see before!

now I will go there again BTW: there were my Caspian terns again I didn't have time to take photos anymore. The rescue operation took a lot of time.

sova, good morning :D
I'm glad you like the pictures. I also saw cranes circling over my house. That means it will start soon and there will be thousands again

sova, that's not their natural environment either. But water buffalo are used to keep the vegetation short in such areas. This is how birds can breed there. There are some herds of water buffalo on the Darß. Unfortunately, they are also eaten.

BTW: they have left the area. Now there are large birds in this area. countless swans, great egrets, gray herons, as well as ducks, geese and various seagulls.

sova, not for sale  I know you love them.
https://www.kraniche.de/de/kranorama.html
now, they are here with us. Large groups. The Kranorama opened yesterday.
the meadows and fields are full. Unfortunately they are too close to the bike path. I have to ignore them. If I stopped and tried to take a photo, I would be extremely disturbing to them. so I wait until they are far enough away to feel safe. I do this with all birds. I also see large numbers of gray herons and great egrets together in meadows. They are just as sensitive.

soon I have time I will go there

some cranes for sova

not the best pictures. I have to wait and see. I could have taken really good pictures today, but there are still too many tourists here. You have no peace.
I asked the geese to leave the picture but they stayed

:hi: Good morning Liz
Thank you so much for the beautiful, majestic bird  ....and the young one in the middle, that sweet brown head. The fact that the whole family travels together, that the young ones stay with the family for almost a whole year (their first trip), can learn... simply wonderful.
Geese are allowed to stay... :D

Arnt! Your Pics are gone. It's better to use a conventional upload for forums. This is picr. most of us use it.
It's really a pity, your pictures are just good!

Unfortunately the weather is not so good here at the moment. I also wanted to go to Werre to photograph bearded tits.

Hi sova, :hi:

you simply have to be ready on bicycle to stop softly (from two miles per hour) and shoot immediatly free handed …

The barn swallow is taken at the weir of Werre. Manually exposure with on board flash TTL hidden by the railing around the channel, 200 mm zoom.
