I haven't seen any mention of Edie this season or I may have missed it. Usually Edie is first on scene for checking nests. This year I have seen no mention of the Stork. I hope she is arlight and still doing what Storks do.

Last data we received about Eedi more as year ago in the end of August 2022. Eedi was then in Latvia, starting autumn migration. In last location nothing found about Eedi if we checked the place in field. Trail camera on Eedis nest did not show him there in spring. So we could assume Eedi perished somewhere during migration or wintering. In former Eedis nest there were three chicks this year, one of them (Metsoja) visible on migration map (https://birdmap.5dvision.ee/en).

Yes, the camera is off.

See you hopefully next year @Hulbi Lorm when the camera should hopefully be switched on again.

Urmas, thank you for confirming what most of us had feared was the case.

Reminds me of a song by The Byrds Turn. Turn. Turn.
A time for every purpose under heaven. But that is all I remember of it. Does anyone know it?

Here it is - of course, Youtube.

Now I do, thank you.
I read that it is from the Book of Ecclesiastes.

It is an ancient reminder that it has always been like this: there is a time to be born and a time to die.
Let´s also be glad that we got to know Karl II (and Karl I).

I was just adjusting to being without Edie and mow this terrible news. Our Karl 11 escorted his family back to winter surroundings. Such a great Stork what will we do without him and his welcoming songs to the nest. Oh my such tragic news. It is a dangerous journey for the storks every year. Rip Karl11 we will miss you so much.

Unfortunately it repeats again and again, every year. Look at Stork Travels diary from 2008, it is the time when the forum was just created and both Karls hadn't even hatched yet: https://www.looduskalender.ee/vana/en/node/1686

Hello Jo,
Yes I grew up listening to early 60's music.
Turn, Turn, Turn by The Byrds is an excellent song!
Released 06 December 1965
~The lyrics were almost verbatim, taken from a passage of the Old Testament in the Book of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (KJV)~

Hello Jo, hello everyone,

thank you for the wonderful song. I didn't know him yet, although the early sixties were exactly "my time".
Now, in connection with Karl II, it will probably become my favorite song for some time.

The many contributions to Karls II terrible misfortune do not bring him back, but are still beneficial.

I wish all a good week

I can't put it into words...
our wonderful Karl...
I've only read it now and I'm crying with deep sadness.
It was an honor for me to experience him.
All the best in our eternity.

:hi:
I have just started watching your video.
This review of the breeding season is special because of the loss of Karl II and it's the first one I've watched.
Thank you very much, Aare
