It’s a beautiful day in Abernethy! Oh and we still have Ospreys 😱🦅
KL5 is obviously keen to stick around a little while longer, he’s currently on a perch near the nest eating some brown trout 🐟

Having thought she’d left, we revived a photo from one of our other harbour nest platforms this afternoon of 022 and CJ7 together briefly. Perhaps saying Bon Voyage?

Noswaith dda, good evening.
Maybe a little early to say but 372 and 8B8 may have headed out on migration and left Llyn Brenig. 8B8 has not been seen since leaving the nest at 7:25am. 372 left the ptz at 9:50 and was last seen in the area around 10:30am.
As usual we will keep you informed of developments.
These videos are the last time they were on the live cams. If they have migrated, we at Brenig Osprey Project and I am sure everyone would like to wish 372 and 8B8 Emrys a safe migration. Hopefully 372 will return next year and 8B8 in 2026. 372 has been an amazing first time Mum, fiesty, likes to do things a bit different. Safe journey.
We will keep an eye on 8B9 Bethan and LJ2.

It's here: Osprey 'The Movie'. Well, not quite, rather a wonderful five part series we'll be launching every Friday over the next five weeks celebrating the success of of the 2024 Osprey season at Careys Secret Garden.
Having been such a historic year, and with all four chicks fledging, we thought it would be great to showcase the highlights from throughout the season, including everything from arrivals to departures and all the shenanigans in-between.
A huge thank you to volunteer Alison Copland for spending weeks cutting and editing footage to create each of the five episodes.
We hope you enjoy (re)watching it all as much as we did.

Our osprey season started more like an episode of Coronation Street or Eastenders this year, writes Sarah Callon, our Brenig Osprey Project Officer.
Drama, battles, birth, death, almost too much for our osprey project volunteers to cope with!

What better way to conclude our 5-part series that summarises the fantastic year our Poole Harbour Osprey pair had, by curling up on the sofa on a Sunday morning as the wind howls outside and watching the final video of the Carey Osprey family. Watching back the final few weeks of the season, it's easy to forget just how strong and well developed our four chicks were, constantly fighting and battling for every meal that was brought to the nest. We're confident this years young couldn't have left in better condition, with high hopes of some safe returners in spring 2026.
Once again we'd like to thank our volunteer Alison Copland for editing all this amazing footage for us, as well as a massive thank you to anyone that visited and supported the project this year. With only three and a half months until 'Osprey Season' gets well under way again, we hope everyone has an exciting and busy build up to Christmas, and until then.....we hope you enjoy Episode 5: Learning to fly and a sad goodbye.

In anticipation of the Ospreys returning soon (only 28 sleeps!), we’ve carried out some maintenance on the first Osprey Nest on the South coast of England for 180 years! We cleared out some of the debris and serviced the cameras and microphones. With this, the webcams should be up and running early next week! We can’t wait for Osprey season to get going again and we’re hoping it’s going to be a bigger year than ever! We’re expecting quite a few different birds back this year 🤞Our local nesting pair, CJ7 and 022 of course, but also 2021 translocated male 374 who we are hoping will set up a second nest! This year we’re also expecting 3 chicks from 2023 to return, who have spent the last 2 winters in West Africa, 5H3, 5H4 and 5H5! Finally, will the first ever wild fledged chick from the south coast 5H1 from 2022 nest this year and where in the country will it be? We can’t wait for the season to get started and we know you’ll all be joining us on the Webcams and hopefully on our Carey Osprey Tours. Comment below your prediction for return dates for each individual and we’ll see who gets closest! Big thank you to FPCR for carrying out the work.

Glanhad gwanwyn i'r nyth. A spring clean for the nest.
As you can see the DCWW Llyn Brenig ranger team have been busy spring cleaning the osprey nest and cameras today. The nest perch has been rotated 180 degrees so should be able to see ospreys perching on it again with the camera.
Nest is ready, just need LJ2 and 372 to return safely in 4 weeks time. Not long now!!!

Possibly just in the nick of time!! We think 022 may have just arrived back this AM, just as we've been getting the camera network sorted. Please bear with us, as there may still be a few 'dropping out' issues that can't get sorted until the network provider comes next week. However the stream is currently working, and what better way to celebrate than with 022 sat in his favourite tree. It's vital that the birds are left to settle in, so please don't attempt to approach the nest or disturb the birds.
Looking at the nest, it looks as if he's already made a few visits, so should hopefully be back on there again soon for you all to enjoy. The 2025 season is now under way.
Now lets see when CJ7 turns up!!

Rutland 2022 female ‘1H1’, who visited our nest a few times last summer has just landed on the nest which has sent 022 into full display mode. With a current ‘un-paired’ male in her sights, she may stick about until CJ7 arrives back and boots her out. 👀
