Liz01 wrote: April 3rd, 2019, 7:16 am ...........As far as I remember, there was another couple here before Karl!
I have to check it. In the first year we talked about it?
Urmas wrote: April 3rd, 2019, 7:28 am We found that nest only in 2016. Think since that there was the same pair most probably. No rings, though before we caught Karl.
What was before, we can only speculate.

That's great! The archive is already available! Thank you Urmas :2thumbsup:

So there is no need for me to record the whole day

Archiving begins after the visit. If someone needs files, I can make videos. I recorded the whole visit.

Hello, everyone!

Our visitor was quite busy this morning! :slap:
And so were you, Liz! :D
Many thanks for all these beautiful pictures!

When I watched Urmas' video, yesterday, this stork made me laugh. He threw all branches and twigs around in a very energetic and agitated manner. Yes, he is working much harder than last year. He really seems to be determined to stay.
And he has also been watching the sky while singing... Yes, maybe there is already a female BS around...

Oh, oh, our Kati will arrive soon, too, if everything is well.
Karl, hurry up!

I didn't see his arrival. I was on the phone.

Maybe it’s a stupid question – but why this stork cannot be Kati? Why it’s sure that it is a male?

Asked by a curious
Martin

Hello to all of you stork friends! I've been following this forum and the efforts of Karl and Kati for a couple of years, but never before posted any comments. This year I intend to do so.

I actually agree with Martin that this could be Kati. It looks like her and females also sing/whistle, don't they?
:whistling:

Thanks, Liz. That's very good news.
Then we can scroll back. :D

And also thank you for the new pics!

I believe that our Karl - if everything is fine with him - can probably be expected in Karula Park around the 12th or the 13th of April.
So still 9 or 10 days to go! :slap:

Here you can see the calculation:

Oh no! Anne
With a lot of bad luck, there might already be eggs in the nest by then. Karl should be here in 2-3 days! That would be good. After that...

Welcome!
:gathering:

Do you think this could be Kati? :puzzled:
I will try to make a comparison of the heads.

I believe this isn't Kati. They look different.
In the visitor, the black contour around the red skin (at the eyes) is marked out much more sharply.

And Hagnat made this comparison, last year. (by 'male' is meant Karl, by 'female' Kati)

I know, Liz. Within 9 or 10 days, a lot can happen.
Karl is very late this year. :slap: And the visitor is early.
Maybe we should book an airline ticket for Karl?

Let's wait and see what happens. So far, Kati isn't here either.
I hope she has some delay too.

Not in this way, if they arrive at nest. Females are silent after arrival to the nest. It was so observed in many nests. And a leading ornithologist did it describe that way.
And the BS doesn't looks like Kati.

By Juta - a comparsion visitor and Kati
you can see the difference
