Vilnis visits his parents with their first egg of the new season
Thanks Biker!! Wonderful pics of a great moment !!

I look at him, such an handsome eaglet, but all I see in front of me are pictures from his first 3 months :slap:

For me it's his 2nd or even 3rd visit; each time it's very emotional.

yes Abigyl, it was great to watch it!
and i thought: perhaps it wasn't the first time, that he was in the near surrounding of the nest ( recently).

But I will not be. Image As I do not know where. Image :rotf:
By the way, the day before yesterday the camera stopped too, approximately for 5 minutes. 11:05 - 11:09 it seems.

Good morning!
MĀRIS wrote yesterday that Milda shook from herself snow at 19:50:32 So she looks just like she did yesterday morning. As snowdrift.

To Ame, you did not notice, I asked time to correct.

hi Sonchik!
i have now corrected the time. i didn't notice it then in time and after that i only noticed the egg.
thanks! :2thumbsup:
btw: i also noticed that when Raimis came with his stick to see the egg for the first time he landed quite far from the egg. the distance looked small because the stick and the egg were on the same line of sight. we "saw" that they were close but in reality there was at least 20 - 30 cm distance, maybe even more. Raimis is not irresponsible or clumsy.

the camera is still not working. :(

I wrote about other moment.
I do not know why you and Michi thought of the landing moment.
I did not even see how Raimis brought this stick. I thought that he just threw almost on egg already available stick.

News about the camera. https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... 94#p210294
My words.
Remotely the problem cannot be solved. There is a small hope, to go there tomorrow. Most likely on Thursday. In a nest it is not necessary to climb.
I hope, I correctly understood.

yes, that was the moment when Raimis "gave the present" to the egg.
i thought he was cute. :innocent:
some people didn't like the way Raimis landed on the nest.

i think he placed the stick rather nicely in front of the egg, not on it. again the distance was larger than it seemed. the camera lens "lies" to us, it flattens the perspective a lot in the depth dimension. distances are larger than they look.

After in Hungary a stick broke one egg (presumably), me it is already terrible from such situations.

By the way, the nest is already so high that the heads of eagles go beyond the review from above. Sometimes.
Milda is obviously hungry.

it seems that MĀRIS has brought bad news from the two Janis.
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... 94#p210294
GT gives:
"As the "nails hurt", the time shame at the edge and I called Janis Kuzem to ask for some info, a chess has fallen into the Russian broad arena, and so fast does not predict to be in the field.
So shame at the time and I called our broadcast guru Jānis Rudzītis / brachux /, who then lighted me a bit - nothing can be done remotely, the fault is only to be observed on the spot, and it is predictable that it could happen in the quarter. / Very small but there is hope for tomorrow ... / It is a pleasure not to climb the nest. Just wait. :P
"
the "translation" has some pieces which can't be understood in any sensible way... :dunno:

I understood all pieces (on DD a forum, not here), but it does not change an essence. I did not begin to translate details.

the eagles sometimes also step on the eggs. healthy egg should be hard enough to endure that. eggs are very durable. if an egg breaks there is something wrong with the shell. the shell may be too thin. that was a major problem in the 60's and 70's when eagles ate fish which were toxic with polychlorinated biphenyl compounds (PCB's). the poison made the egg shells so thin that they broke under incubating parents.

one of Linda's eggs broke under her in 2013, one of Illimar's siblings. the other egg (out of 3) was empty (probably died soon and dried or was not fertilized at all).

a really frightening thought came to my mind. if the fault in the system is with the camera in the tree then the season is over now.
i asked about this in the chat. mega2 and Vērotaja replied:
mega2 at 9:44 am wrote: @MSanmaelo -yes, need to be repaired locally, but not in the nest - maybe on Wednesday or Thursday?
Vērotaja at 9:45 am wrote: MSanmaelo Near the nest. Possible in control unit or generator. They will go to Durbe on Thursday

i'm not panicking but they don't seem to know exactly where the fault is, although mega2 gave that impression in her answer when she wrote that it is "not in the nest".
Vērotaja wrote that the problem is "near the nest". if it is too near then it is impossible to fix. they can't possibly go too near the nest. Milda will be there day and night and she'll flee. one of the camera control boxes is in the tree, 8 meters below the nest or 8 m above the ground (i can't remember which). that was the box which was "inhabited" by wasps last summer. if the fault is there then it can't be fixed.
this is the post where MĀRIS wrote about the camera box on September 4 2018, at 21:44
