Two chicks confirmed dead, two chicks confirmed alive. Another egg we don't know about.

At least there's still hope. And the parents are okay.

Now we'll have to wait if the intruder can be kept away, and if the remaining storklets are well.

One seems a bit disoriented It could be a newly hatched one. It always takes a while until they figure out how to get food.
This behavior doesn't mean anything. It could be injured, it could be a new hatchling. Or it just wasn't able to eat this time. wait and see..

Probably that extra moss was necessary to make the nest floor soft, warm and comfortable again.

I’m glad that the two remaining chicks seem to be alright.

Our female is really brave and smart.

It's all so confusing and volatile. One can only hope all turns all out well for the remaining chicks.

Liz I don't know if this matters, but at exactly 19:22 in your video you can see that the stork that is protecting the chicks has feathers missing. Does this mean that the male was protecting the nest? Who was without feathers?
And after the adult storks fall down, I think you can see all four little heads moving. What happened next, they were probably very hurt.
Hopefully everything will be okay from here on out

I didn't watch the video very closely. I'm a coward! But now I'm watching this part.
It helps to understand. So there was a switch. The female came home and the male... we saw that. He chased the intruder away and will now either keep watch nearby or be on the hunt

two storklets are removed from the nest - they were dead. Two are alive and healthy.

I'm glad you posted that time stamp, Anne. Both heads clearly visible, so the second chick, that didn't show up some minutes earlier, is okay. May they have a calm night and may things normalize tomorrow.

Another dead chick has just been moved out of the nest bowl. I fear this nest is just doomed for this year.

I can't see any movement in the nest all the time the female is standing outside. With the lack of food, I doubt there's much hope left here.

We currently have a big problem with the drain pipes here at home, and there are workmen in the house for the moment.
