Tea-leaved willow
Tea-leaved willow Kahevärvine paju Salix phylicifolia
Almost certainly the bunch of willow branches, cut or bought for the holidays in the vase, is from a tea-leaved willow. The other willows at ditches or river banks simply don’t have such pretty catkins.
The shrub grows upright, sometimes to a height of up to 5 meters. The shoots are shiny and rather smooth, but may have different-coloured bark on individual shrubs, from green or yellowish to reddish-brown hues.
Happy Easter to all readers!
