To start with, the dates of the egg-layings have been: March 16th, 19th, 22nd and 24th.

From the 21st onwards Klaara has only briefly left the nest hollow a couple of times during the evening and night but legs must be stretched.

Male Klaus has fed the incubating female bird very properly according to the viewers and rodents seem to be around this year

In the evening tawny owl life started as usual with Klaara flying out from the nest hollow but within an hour she was back. We could guess that there would be an addition to the eggs. As a a well-behaved hunter Klaus shared the prey with Klaara which the video cut shows.

Yesterday Klaara returned from her evening trip just before midnight. It can be said with certainty that the egg was laid today, March 19th.

So the first egg on March 16th and the second on March 19th. In a full clutch there are often three to five eggs, the interval between layings two or three days.

The weather is summery hot, hurries on nature as well as bird chicks.

The owlets waited until the sunset period to leave the nest almost at the same time and together.

Today they were a month old and at least according to memory at that age owlets have not left earlier. Neither has it happened that owlets have returned to the nest …

All the best to you, and stand courageous against all dangers!.

The nice nest log for owls Ahto installed in the medium-aged spruce forest in January the year before last knowing that RMK would be felling  the neighbouring older forests – which was also done.

“I didn’t go specially to check  the nest log but last week one night I noticed an owl flying at low height towards the nest log. Next morning I went to check and the owl was in the trunk and so I set up a trail camera.”

The weeks pass quickly.

It is not easy with food for the owl family but female Klaara does her best  – catching passerines, seldom the staple food of owls this year, small rodents, moles, frogs, earthworms but also bats.

By today all owl chicks have hatched.

A brief survey: on March 30 we could see the first egg in the nest. The next eggs Klaara laid on April 2 and 5.

When exactly one month had passed, or on April 30, a chick hatched from the first egg, the second on May 1, and the last on May 3.
