Kirjuta meile mägrast
Ootame lugusid kohtumistest aasta loomaga. Korjasime neid nii hundiaastal, viigriaastal kui metssea-aastal. Vaatame, kuidas tänavu läheb, mil mägrast kirjutavad meile ka lõunanaabrid. Lätlastegi aasta loom 2016 on mäger.

Note the dachshound in the video, excitedly standing on the road. By the way, the dachshound breed takes its name from the badger (Dachs – badger in German) and the short legs of the dachshound are bred precisely for getting into the burrows of a badger sett.

In the Year of the Badger we would like to show all good badger videos, even retrospectively. Here is a springtime record of the peaceable doings of a badger.

In the sixth minute (6.20) pig-like snorts are audible in the video. The badger has a voice! Although the badgers in many of Looduskalender’s videos are quite silent they actually are able to produce quite varying sounds. In the video here we hear sounds of romping.
The video from the trail camera was assembled by Peeter Anijalg.

The video clips were made this year in mid-July in Puka municipality in Valga County, at a badger sett where the cubs have a pleasant time playing outside a burrow entrance. Somersaults and playful wrestling. The sett with 10 entrances is situated in an old forest on a natural elevation.
Last time we were introduced to badger Matilda’s brave character and her offspring. Now we will see where this plucky badger lives.
