Raven pair

Raven    Ronk or kaaren      Corvus corax

Looking at the photo there is no doubt about who is the male in the pair.  Anyone roaming in nature almost certainly sees or notices otherwise the mating games of ravens. In March their activities already concentrate on the nesting territory.

Already at half past eight jackdaw, crow and pigeon groups have occupied the feeding place.

The winter this year followed its own course but our winged friends were still fed with  BALSNACK s different bird foods. Arne Ader took good care of the birds outside the  Loodusemees home office window and will do so until small birds can manage by themselves in nature.

The weather in Estonia has been quite changeable lately. The wet snow that fell meanwhile stuck to young trees and bent the trees almost to the ground with its weight. A pretty and picturesque view, is it not? Sadly such trees will not have a long life, their chances to grow into tall trees are very small.

The doings of badgers could be followed in real time for the first time in Estonia in 2014, from mid-May until September. Last year we could watch the hard-working burrow denizens from the end of April until September. This year we started the badger camera already in February, to get an overview of the doings of the Animal of the Year during almost a whole year.
