Jackal; Golden jackal Šaakal or harilik šaakal Canis aureus
The jackals were missing from camera view for some days. Were the IR lamps actually ”visible” to the sensitive canines or did they sense them in some other way?
Jackals live and act mainly in family groups. At the smallest disturbance they will not visit the area for the next few days and they will keep away from places when they feel any threat.
From the fourth minute onwards of the video we see ”light flashes” on the observation ground from the trail camera familiar to hunters to which the animals do not pay any particular attention.
The actions of the jackal pair differs clearly from the behaviour of foxes in the transmissions from our different forest cameras.
