In the first days of January the  Nurme school trail camera recorded a visit by the Animal of the Year, a lynx, which was a great surprise and joy for the children – the large nocturnal cat came to sniff at the new salt lick of the Nurme school!

A lynx is a very curious creature and sniffs with interest at all tracks left by other animals as the video shows. At the salt lick various animals visit, including roe deer, the prey of lynxes. The lynx will probably be back here too.
The Nurme school is in Päinurme in Järva County and it has joined the school children’s trail  camera enterprise. It is interesting that the salt lick is quite new but the animals visit it frequently. When the children and their teacher changed the memory card in the camera last week they noticed at first that there were some splendid videos with three elks. The record with the lynx was overlooked at first. Sten discovered the forest cat on loading the videos, and all were overjoyed.
An excuse to our viewers: the date in the corner of the video is not correct – the camera was not reset. See also videos  in Facebook recorded by other children’s trail cameras .
