The shallow MatsaluBay with a water salinity near zero is freezing,  only a few openings are visible because the surface water already is at a couple of degrees minus. We will see how the view has changed tomorrow; strong winds from south are forecast. The mute swans moved away from the forming ice, out of the Matsalu bay.

The goshawk arrived into camera view a little later than usual today and left quite soon – it has been feeding quite well during the last few  days .

After a long time we again saw the prudent jackal in action in camera  view.

In the beginning of the video we hear the howling of several jackals. Such a call is said often to mark the start of a hunt for the flock but this is only based on literature data. We don’t know the behaviour patterns of the animals here well enough yet.
