A portrait of the smallest chick who was the last to leave the nest log

Tawny owl       Kodukakk      Strix aluco

The chicks of tawny owl pair Klaara and Klaus move around near the nest tree. They left the nest log almost at the same time, and as owl camera viewers know from earlier, none of the chicks will return to the nest log.

In their home park the owl chicks will be raised to young owls by adults Klaara and Klaus. They still clamber around with the aid of claws and beak on the branches, trying to keep their balance with the wings, and in the evenings the food begging calls of the chicks can be heard. In June they already make flying exercises, and so their development progresses … The family keeps company for two and a half to three months. In August the young owls are already experienced enough to start a quite independent life..

Wind in your wings!

We thank all who have participated in the family life of the tawny owls and the LK forum, whose members have recorded all important events!
