The first egg was in the nest on May 2nd  and the next one  not until May 7th at about four o’clock in the afternoon. Most usually there are two eggs in a lesser spotted eagle nest. Of the hatched chicks almost without exception only one fledges because the weaker chick perishes before it becomes fully fledged.

Tõnn brings first spruce twig to nest

In the video we see the visit of the male in the nest just after a quarter to three. Probably Tõnn has inspected the surroundings and acknowledges the nest as his own by bringing the spruce twig.

Tõnnipoeg is three and a half months old and rarely visits the nest if at  all. The nest life period has come to an end.

The parents raised Tõnnipoeg and taught the necessary knowledge for eagle life. Mother Tiiu should set out on migration in the second half of September. Father Tõnn stays to keep an eye on Tõnnipoeg and we can still meet them a month after Tiiu’s migration. With favourable weather they start the migration earlier.
