Nest life is not always seen in the installed webcam, and this would not be the first time that it happens.

The buzzard webcam was installed for the first time in 2015, the year of the buzzard. This year we can watch the same nest for the third year in a row. The breeding results will be clear in mid-June at the latest. Will the same Mari and Mihkel come to breed? We are no longer able to watch the second buzzard nest from 2015 (Katrin and Kalju) since there is a felling area now.

We always continue hoping to see the nest inhabitants visiting the birthplace. But for buzzards the ties to the nest break at once on leaving (although certainly there may be exceptions).

Buzzards start their autumn migration in September-October, and LK will have reports from the migration. The young buzzards that were hatched this year will begin nesting in their third calendar year.

On the branches of the nest tree, outside camera view, the older buzzard chick climbs around, the younger spends the time in the nest.

Time flies – just recently the chicks got rings on their legs; by today the larger and older buzzard chick is one month old (the smaller was hatched on May 15).

As ever the older tries to grab the food from the younger one and displays all the other tricks that the webcam viewers have noted. Last year was the buzzard year and their family life was introduced more in detail then.

For some days now the microphone at the buzzard nest camera has not been working. On Friday it was taken down; there are no repair facilities in the forest. Hopefully it will be in working order next week.

Another new being has entered the world, the second buzzard-to-be was hatched on Sunday and we expect the third to be hatched on Tuesday.

Once more there is a new citizen in the world; the first buzzard-to-be has been hatched. The eggs were laid in the stick nest on April 6, 9 and 12, thus five weeks of incubation. Looking forward we can state that until they fledge there are still 6-7 weeks left.

A brief survey: the eggs appeared in Kati’s nest on April 12, 14, 16 and 17. The incubation time lasts about one month for large birds, so we can begin to expect hatching of the chicks from mid-May.

The last couple of days with rain and cold weather was replaced by sunshine today – it dries the nest a little; the adults are busy draining the bottom.

On Saturday evening female Mari laid her second egg. Reminder: the first egg was laid three days ago, on April 6th.
