Buzzard nest waits for inhabitants

Last year Mihkel visited the nest on March 13 for the first time

Nest life is not always seen in the installed webcam, and this would not be the first time that it happens.

Because of the Buzzard Year in 2015 the birdmen installed a camera near Tartu, at the nest of buzzard pair Mari and Mihkel (the LK forum people named the birds), and the birds bred nicely. Last year the buzzards visited the nest for the first time on March 13 and there was much to see during the breeding period.

This year the buzzards haven’t hurried with coming to the nest – will they come at all? The birds breeding here arrive in mid-March or a little earlier. The male, who arrives first, loudly  lets others hear of his presence at the nest . He circles high above his territory and defends his territory against species comrades.  

In general many birds of prey have several nests and so we cannot be certain about seeing the nesting of the buzzards this year in the webcam since Mari and Mihkel may breed somewhere nearby.

But let us be patient, maybe nature has some surprise in store for us …
