The buzzard is the bird of the year in Estonia this year. Because of this we see and hear more about them and the buzzard cameras must of course be noted. Two nest cameras have been installed at buzzard nests: the nests are located in Tartumaa, and are almost neighbours.

The Bird of the Year is chosen by the Estonian Ornithological Society,
Eesti Ornitoloogiaühing. The buzzard is the 21st in order. Cameras were installed at the buzzard nests in early March. Kotkaklubi (Eagle Club) supervised the installation work. Two different types of cameras have been used. The Buzzard camera 1 setup has an AXIS F41 camera model at the nest and Buzzard 2 has a Mobotix M22 camera, a model used earlier at nests. Both were supplied by the Beta Group OÜ, and the specially constructed microphone for the AXIS camera is from the same company. The Beta Group also participated in the installation of the system. The Mobotix camera has a built-in integrated microphone. Special thanks for their help in setting up the Buzzard2 system to Ain Nurmela and Urmas Lett!
The transmission from the nests goes by way of WiFi links; the equipment is from
Kernel AS , our long-standing helpers in the webcam projects. For transmission we use the Kernel network through which the image from the camera reaches the
EENet server. From the EENet server the video stream is distributed to thousands of simultaneous users
.
