The two chicks in the owl camera have grown powerfully and they have already enjoyed nest life for 35 days (the chicks hatched on April 22). In 2009 and 2010 the owlets left the nest at about 33 days of age (they hatched at different times, and when a particular chick hatched and left the nest was not quite clear), thus we have had the chance to enjoy watching the doings of the owlets a little longer than we dared hope.

The forum members called the owlets Paul and Artur; Paul was the first of them to go outside the nest box, on May 24, which brought along falling down on to the lower branches of the nest tree. But in a couple of hours Paul had climbed back into the nest; he didn’t yet go on to discover the home surroundings.
A new interesting discovery is that tawny owls happily eat earthworms
