When the January frosts arrived RMK, the Estonian State Forest Management Centre, set up a feeding ground for red deer which animals started to visit. In February a web camera was installed; with the arrival of milder weather the visits by deer and wild boars became less frequent but winter will surely not stay away – on Wednesday night the forest glade  was covered by a thick carpet of snow.

The purchase of the webcam was funded by RMK. Planning and installation has been done in co-operation with Looduskalender.ee. The image is transmitted by the new generation of Mobotix web cameras, experimental IR lighting is used and the self-sufficient power supply is based on solar panels. The system was assembled by Hatcam.

Food for the forest inhabitants is provided by Saaremaa hunters – many thanks to them.

On Looduskalender’s forum all interesting events will surely be noted.

The video stream is forwarded via mobile towers by Teetormaja and  the image is transformed for watchers by EENet.
