Rainbow
Rain showers alternating with sunshine bring plenty of rainbows into the sky. A rainbow is an optical phenomenon – the refraction, reflexion and diffraction of light in water droplets. A human eye can distinguish – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, dark blue and violet. Sometimes we see multiple rainbows or secondary rainbows with inverted colours at the main rainbow.
A rainbow appears only when the sun is not more than 40° above the horizon.
