VIDEO: What goes on in the forest?

A slight frost and the arrival of the boars can be heard from far off. A moment of silence to check that all is safe and after that a rush on to the ground … To a viewer it seems that the animals are quite calm today, something that could not be said of the previous days – but what happens actually in the forest?

Constant viewers remember that on the last days of January the feeding ground was empty, briefly only a lonely male visited it. The resting place of ”our” boar herd is about a kilometre from the feeding ground, there a wolf flock came to harass them and the boar considered it wiser to leave from their territory. Precisely a wolf flock, with 9 members. The young animals were active because it is mating time for the alfa pair and they move around separately from the flock and with other things in mind. In the beginning of winter the flock was busy on the other bank of Emajõgi, at the outflow area of Elva River.

On Monday the boars were  ”nervous” on the feeding ground and went off for some time. Probably at the same time a lone wolf left its track path behind the web camera.

No peace on earth ...
