Animal of the Year is the badger

The badger has been chosen as the Animal of the Year 2016. It is the heraldic animal of the Estonian Theriology Society. The badger, selected jointly by the Estonian Nature Society (Eesti Looduskaitse Selts) and other nature societies as the animal of the year, will be introduced in depth during 2016. Spokesmen for the badger are zoologist  Tiit Hunt and forester  Vahur Sepp.
 
In the nature night at the Estonian National Library, Tallinn, on Monday January 11th, starting at 18.00 (local time), the badger will be introduced by folklore specialist Marju Kõivupuu, film maker  Remek Meel and  game researchers  Peep Männil and Tiit Hunt. We will find out what is being planned for the RMK badger camera and Looduskalender. Lennart Lennuk from the Estonian Museum of Natural History, nature journalist  Helen Arusoo and Deputy Director of the Estonian Hunters’ Society  Tõnis Korts will also talk about projects in the badger Year.
 
Writer  Valdur Mikita makes a imaginative flight into zoosemiotics, and Jaan Sööt will sing.
