Crane Tom lost his life on the way to Ethiopia
Young crane Tom, equipped this year with a transmitter, died in Sudan on his way to the wintering grounds in Mid-Ethiopia. In that area more than 50 000 cranes, mostly from Russian territory, spend the winter, and Tom’s precisely established migration route – by the transmitter data - showed that the area isn’t strange to cranes from the North either.
