There are no direct signs of spring as yet in the frosty air, not even indirect ones except that the days are longer, but some solitary skylarks have been encountered already, starting from the last days of February.

 

The plumage of skylarks is brownish, underparts light. Darker streaks can be seen at the crop, back and crown area. The latter is adorned with a small crest.
