Those who watch the winter WTE camera in the dark of the night - and in the shadow of this darkness sometimes meet a fox about on its business - have a chance to make astronomical observations too ...
At least late at night on February 6th and 5th the camera caught a brightly gleaming star that turned out to be Vega, 25 light years away.
The strange play of colours is created as the light from the star is refracted in different air masses of the atmosphere.
Vega can be seen for a few days (nights) more if the operators are not tired from the long eagle days.
