In the screen capture above the owlet using its wings to help managed to best its bigger siblings and take the frog slipped in over the nest edge by the parents. It is the youngest and smallest of the clutch.  Gobbling the prey down was a tough job but who eats well will grow well. Just a few days ago we were  rather concerned about its fate …

 

The food need of the chicks grows by each day and Klaara and Klaus are busy with getting food during the whole dark time. The owlets are so big that they must manage to warm each other on their own during the night.
