One stork egg uncovered the whole night?

Already yesterday night we could see that Kati did not incubate  one egg and so it was in the morning too

There is no answer to the question why.

It is surely not carelessness but there is no evident reason. Does the stork feel that bringing up four chicks would turn out to be complicated?

Female Kati has laid eggs with clockwork  regularity and we have been able to greet all the eggs in the morning dusk: on April 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th.

In the nice calm full-moon-time nest forest there were minus degrees in the night but spring proceeds and after noon there may be more than 15 degrees of warmth.

The third egg is a fact

Three  nice eggs in the nest and a proud stork pair. The eggs came every second day, or on April 12th, 14th and 16th in the morning twilight.

This night too there were minus degrees in the nest forest as it has been since the beginning of the egg-laying, but the weather is turning more spring-like.

Early morning at black stork nest

Just as with the first egg this one was discovered in the nest early in the morning dusk.

The night was not as cold as when the first egg was laid but there were still some degrees of frost.

Thus female Kati laid  the eggs on April 12th and 14th.

The egg and both storks…

The night was of course cold, in the nest forest there may have been at least a couple of degrees of frost but in the morning dusk the egg was really there.

After a long separation the arrival of one's breeding companion is a great joy. Such feelings are a pleasure to share.

When Urmas Sellis has finished his pressing field work he will introduce the nesters and this year’s situation in more detail.

So the stork nest was left to wait for its nesters next year….

As the first of the young black storks Maru left the nest, on August 4th. About the nest life in between we have written in the news articles.

Karula and Päike left on migration on August 15th. Male Karl did not come to the nest later because he noticed the departure of the storklets and he was busy near one of them (Karula), at a watching distance as the transmitter data showed.
