The seal rookery on December 18th, the last ”working day” of the camera

Gray seal       Hallhüljes       Halichoerus grypus

The whole of autumn and early winter one storm has chased another, sunshine has been scarce.

So the battery bank of the seal camera has been finally drained. Because of the poor heavenly light we took the decision to replace the batteries when possible and to undertake the needed maintenance work at the end of January – early February, that is immediately in the beginning of the grey seal period of giving birth.

Let us only hope that ice conditions will allow it …
