Bears are not the only animals who benefit from the salmon spawning season. Here is a live nature cam video from Alaska, Katmai National Park, Brook Falls, where a wolf can be seen fishing. Wolves are opportunistic carnivores who seldom give up eating opportunities. They are excellent hunters and employ different tactics for different prey. For a proper meal, a large prey, like elk or bison, is needed. Hunting them requires cooperation of the wolf pack. An older wild hog or a speedy deer is also more easily caught with the help of the pack. In the summertime, however, there are plenty of lighter options, such as beaver or salmon. Catching them is a one-wolf job and doesn't require staying together with the pack. Yet it requires... patience. A wolf can wait for the beaver to put out its nose from the water for up to 8 hours, all the while laying low in hiding. The video above is another example of the wolf's patience and determination.
