The mating period is soon over for elks.

Ahto recorded a video portrait of the true ”home” of an elk: well worn paths, holes, torn bark and thrashed trees, and finally an image of the master of the area was also caught in the video.

Male November moth

November moth    Tume-hallavaksik        Epirrita dilutata

There are three Epirria species in Estonia and they have very similar wing patterns and colouring.

The November moth, Epirria dilutata, occurs in all Estonia but is more common in the west. Occasionally it is even present in great numbers. They are most often seen in oak stands and wooded meadows from mid-September to mid-October.
