Wood sorrel.

Wood sorrel  Jänesekapsas Oxalis acetosella

A well known and often nibbled plant, growing in shade, with delicate leaves and a beauty when flowering. From a distance you could believe that the forest floor is full of wood anemones. Darkish spruce forests are illuminated by the white petals with their pink veins; sometimes  the flowers can be pink or violet-tinted          .

It looks as if the wood sorrel hasn’t any stems, the leaves are held up by the long leaf stalks. Depending on the light and temperature the leaves change their position – in a sunlit spot the plant lets its leaflets droop because then less water will evaporate from the delicate greenery. This is also the reason for its preference for shady habitats.
