The spring-time butterfly generation has an orange and black pattern on the top side of the wings. They still fly even in June. Eggs are laid on stinging nettles, hence the name, nõgeseliblikas, meaning nettle butterfly, in Estonian. We will tell about the autumn generation in July.
Quite common butterflies here, with a squarish wing shape and white patches on the forewings that have a straight front line. The underside of the wings has a network of white veins and multiple colours: reddish, yellow, brown, violet ......
