Colt's-foot seedhead
After the early-spring flowering the stems of the colt’s-foot continued to grow. The flowerer’s stems may be up to some twenty centimetres long, the fruiting stems however even twice as long. The stem has leaves: it is covered by thin membranous scales with a reddish-brown colour.
The proper leaves of the plant appear only after the flowering. They grow large and hoof-shaped, dark green on top, covered with white felt-like hairs on the underside.
A quite effective remedy for reducing swellings – crush the leaves lightly and apply on the bruised spot. Tested and tried in outdoors work!
