Lesser spotted eagle family filling out

Things happen in Tuuli and Remo's nest ....
The lesser spotted eagle pair that has occupied the black stork nest is hatching its first chick. The first egg was laid on April 27 and the female started brooding at once: the chicks will thus be hatched at different times; the incubation period is 37-41 days. As we all can calculate all the days were used up.
Generally only one chick will fledge, very rarely both. The breeding success of lesser spotted eagles is characterised by a 3-year cycle, and that is mainly governed by changes in the number of their main prey – voles. This year is a „mouse year“.
The Latvian lesser spotted eagles also have a chick hatched – congratulations.
