Culprit identified

Have they left yet?

On Wednesday Ivar and Olle went to exchange the cables of the monitoring camera that had been bitten off in several places. The net cable had been most appetizing – the contents of the external cable was protected with a silicone-vaseline mixture. And of course that smells. The power cable was less damaged but still needed replacing. Not a single nesting bird was to be seen on the isle and that seemed somehow suspect. In the high growth someone moved but that „someone“ could not be identified in the forest of nettles; a fox was of course suspected.

The camera worked for less than 24 hours, then the image was lost again. Olle checked the stored recordings and it turned out that a wild boar has been stranded on the isle since the ice broke up. Now we have photo evidence, but the net cable still has to be replaced. We have to think of how the boar can be made to leave. They are very good swimmers and the few kilometres distance to Saaremaa is no impossible distance for a boar.

What did they bring for me?
