Checking Raivo's nest

A few days ago I went with eaglemen Ain and Sven to check the black stork Raivo's nest. We found three well-fed chicks (weighing about one kilo more than Donna and Padis' offspring).

Since Raivo is one of our most successful Estonian storks (each year he has three to four chicks), we decided to sacrifice one GPS transmitter for his nest. Raivo himself got the gadget in 2006 and it doesn't seem to have inconvenienced him in any way whatever.

We'll get to see how one well-fed black stork chick becomes a man and manages in the big, wide world. Last fall one of Raivo's chicks was seen at a fishpond in Israel…
