The white storks that have nested here start moving towards south with the "evil weathers“ of late August or early September coming. Food is abundant, but the white storks always leave somehow unexpectedly – they go on with their doings as if they were in no hurry to anywhere. And then one morning you simply realise that the birds have not been seen for some days already ...
A white stork nested for the first time in Estonia in Vastseliina, in 1841, and the same nest is used even today. There are three to four thousand breeding pairs.
