All the Chicks Fly

On the morning of Saturday, August 2nd, the runt of the nest finally gathered the nerve and took his first flight from the nest.
This first trip lasted one hour and 17 minutes. For several minutes the nest was empty since the older chicks had also ventured out on a flight.
The parents brought more food than normal on Saturday—perhaps they already knew of Sunday's coming rain. Highlights of Saturday are available here.
We received this letter from our active viewer, Olev:
Today the chicks' dinner table seemed quite well-stocked. Donna has probably discovered source of food, since within short intervals she brought good quantities of fine fish or something of equivalent quality.
The chicks should immediately begin to start independent lives, to learn to know nature on their own, to seek food and fight for themselves. Already that dejected and empty feeling is creeping in, since the nest will soon be empty and our friends will be seen again only God knows where. But I wish them wind under their wings.
The next stage of research should be a camera on the transmitter with views forward and back so that we'll see where they move and what lives they live!
With regards,
Olev
