Middle and Little – Moving Southward!

Since Thursday the chicks remained near Kaarepere (10km from nest) due to the rain, then there was hope of finding them there the next morning. But, together with Kristo, we only managed to locate the signal around 10 a.m. Friday, but after that we didn't lose it. Middle and Little moved against the wind in a southwesterly direction, but they were mainly circling and their overall progression was slow. Both birds were seen near the Estonian village of Siniküla at an altitude of approximately one kilometer. There we took the picture which follows below.

Only later were we able to locate Middle's signal and assign a location, because the birds (when they were still together) were flying at an altitude too high to observe. Around four p.m. Middle was located near Valguta village and was moving in a relatively southern direction. It's quite probable that he made it to Latvia by Friday evening.
For comparison, Priit and Piia's chick from Saaremaa has made it to Lithuania. We'll keep you updated as we receive information…
