Snowdrop
In warmer garden corners snowdrops can already be found, pushing their white heads through the snow. The oblong flowers are still closed but with a few warmer days they will quickly open. For this harbinger of spring not much is needed because, for a flowering in a cold period the plant has stored as bulb plants do what is needed in the underground bulbs already during the previous summer.
In its homelands in South Europe snowdrops bloom in January and February, at our latitudes their time is beginning.
