Ruby tiger
Ruby tiger moth
This weekend I met the first spring herald of the insect world. The caterpillars of the ruby tiger moth have turned up on the snow. In thaw weather in winter we will not meet ruby tigers. The brown-furred caterpillars turn active only when spring has arrived for good. It is the most precise spring herald that I know among animals.
Calendar spring in Estonia began today at 7.14 am.
