Wagtail

Wagtail arrivals have been reported from all Estonia.

 

Depending on the year, the icebreakers arrive at the end of March or early April. The tail-dipping of the wagtail was said to break the ice, and the observations of nature watchers have remained valid for centuries.

 

There is always something edible in that thawed strip of land at the sunny verge of the ice...
